Tarragona is a province of Spain, in the South part of the independent community of Catalonia. It limits with the provinces of Castellón, Teruel, Zaragoza, Lérida, Barcelona, and with the Mediterranean Sea. On the population of 702,979 inhabitants (2005) of the province, approximately 20% live in the capital, Tarragona. Surface: 6,283 km ². The province is composed by 183 municipalities distributed in ten regions, five in the coast and other five in the interior.
