Salamanca is the university, par excellence well-known city anywhere in the world for that reason and by its artistic wealth: cathedrals, palaces, churches... of artistic tendencies like Romanesque, gothic, plateresco and the baroque one. Located to borders of the Tormes river, its geographic extension is of 12,336 Km², and counts at the present time with 159,000 inhabitants. Salamanca, in spite of its extreme climate (cold and dry winter and warm summer), reunites manifold attractive to make the stay very pleasant of those who visits it, a city where the activities related to the tourism and the leisure are the protagonists. Salamanca was, throughout the 2002, European City of the Culture. Street music, dance, exhibitions, representations... the programming of Salamanca 2002 included from the last cultural tendencies to the purest entertainment. Their original gastronomy and its popular celebrations complete the tourist supply of Salamanca. The other element that makes only is its aged enchantment, with an historical center where its architectonic purity has been conserved intact. When visiting it, it does not surprise that City Patrimony of the Humanity has been declared by UNESCO. So concentrated and so gorgeous monuments, the culture that is breathed in the air and the magical reflection of its stone golden, that covers everything literally, (until the buildings of recent creation), they present/display a unique sensation, only one wishes to remain...... or to return, because Salamanca..... enamors. |
